On Saturday 9 March 2024, the Thai Shuyukai, an alumni association established by Tohoku University alumni living in Thailand, held the "Lunch Gathering 2024" alumni gathering event in Bangkok.

From Tohoku University, Vice-President Tetsuya Nagasaka and Associate Professor Anawat Suppasri of the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) attended the event, while about 30 members of the Thai Shuyukai, including current President Seree Supratid, attended from the Thai side.
