On Saturday, May 17th, Tohoku University President Teiji Tominaga took part in the annual gathering of the Alumni Association of Thailand, held in Bangkok.

In his speech, President Tominaga congratulated the association and praised their initiatives, saying: "Tohoku University is so proud of the positive impact you make, and so grateful for how you enhance the University’s international presence."

Following his remarks, the event continued with a speech by Ms. Maki Kawamura, Director of the Japan Information Service at the Embassy of Japan in Bangkok, a brief activity report by a rappresentative of the Alumni Association, and an introduction to the Tohoku University Alumni Network and its initiatives—such as the International Awards and Online Career Events—by International Exchange Officer Mr. Davide Bitti.

After a toast by Executive Vice President Prof. Toshiya Ueki, the evening continued with two hours of dinner and networking between Tohoku University executives and over 40 Thai alumni.

The event was also attended by Associate Executive Vice President Prof. Kazuko Suematsu from the Global Learning Center and Prof. Tetsuya Nagasaka, who concluded the evening with heartfelt closing remarks.

It was an important occasion that further strengthened the bond between our University and its alumni in Thailand.
