標準化セルフ・コンストラクション・ツールキットによる発災後の住宅再建

ビルディング・ブロック・モジュール[BBmod]の開始

私たちは、脆弱な人々が安全かつ低コストに家を（再）建設できるようにしたいと考えました。そこで、プロトタイプを設計するために、ペルーで建築家のチームを集めました。その後、最初の計画を実行するために日本で第２次専門家チームが作られました。現在、試作品の製作と運用開始に向けて、生分解性樹脂の研究を進めています。しかし、戦争や自然災害で家を失った人々を支援することに関心のある皆様からの資金援助が必要です。私たちの学際的なチームは、日本のNPOに協力し、オーナー主導でカスタマイズされた住宅を建設するアプローチを用いて、心理的な救済を提供するために共に働きます。過去の実績：ペルーでの多世帯住宅プロジェクトの設計と建設（2019年～2021年）、東京大学から賞を受けた研究発表（2020年）、日本に留学するための文部科学省の奨励費（2018年）など。

Starting a Building Block Module [BBmod]

We wanted to help vulnerable people to (re)construct their homes under safe and low-cost standards. Therefore, a team of architects was gathered in Peru to design the prototype. Later, a second team of specialists was sought to carry out the initial plan in Japan. We are currently researching a bio-degradable resin to build the prototype and start operations. However, we need financial assistance from all of you who are interested in helping those who are displaced from their homes after war and natural disasters. Our multi-disciplinary team will conform an NPO in Japan and work side-by-side to provide psychological relief using an owner-driven construction approach to customized housing. Past achievements include: Design and construction of multi-family residential project in Peru (2019-2021), award-winning research presentation provided by the University of Tokyo (2020), Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship to study in Japan (2018), etc.  

BBmodの主なターゲット

受益者が自己効力感を高めるような精神的効果を経験しているかどうかを明らかにすることを目的として、プロトタイプを作成し、自己構築法を検討する。

BBmod’s Main Targets

To build a prototype and explore a self-construction method, aiming to clarify whether beneficiaries experience mental health effects that uplift their perceived self-efficacy.

製作のためのステップと資金需要

製作の手順は以下の通りです：(1)生体分解性ポリマーの研究のための材料を購入し、その結果を国際的な研究誌に発表する。(2)その成果を製品のデザインとともに特許化する想定。(3)東北の産業界とアルミの金型を製作し、人工ポリマーを注入して製品の構造を構築する。(4)木製のパネルを組み込んで試作品を完成させ、転置シナリオ下でテストします。今回の予算では、2022年1月から2023年1月までの間に（1）の作業を行い、実験結果を発表する予定です。また、(2)については、2022年3月から2023年1月まで、国内での特許公開を目指します。（3）は、特許出願後すぐに、国内外の著作権でデザインを保護します。しかし、最後のステップは、現在の資金では実現できない可能性があります。そのため、目標達成のための追加資金を探します。

Funds

The fabrication steps are as follows: (1) materials for a bio-degradable polymer research are bought and the results are published in international research journals; then, (2) we expect to patent the outcome together with the product design; (3) this is followed by the fabrication of aluminum molds with Tohoku industries to inject the engineered polymer and construct the product’s structure; finally, (4) wooden panels are incorporated to finalize the prototype and test it in a displacement scenario. With this budget, we intend to cover step (1) from January 2022 until January 2023 concluding with published results of the experimental research. We also intend to cover step (2) from March 2022 until January 2023 with patents published domestically. Step (3) will take place soon after the patents are filed, to protect our design with domestic and international copyrights. However, this last step might not be feasible with the current funding. Therefore, we will seek additional funds to reach the stated targets.

パイロットプロジェクトの目標

[期待される成果］

このシェルターを実際に被災した世帯でシミュレーションしてみたいと考えています。それを念頭に、私たちは、災害時の転居後に発生する心理的ダメージを部分的に軽減するためにオーナー主導の耐震住宅建設を促進することを目指しています。第一の目的は、心理的介入としての建設体験を、メンタルヘルスの変化を伴う形で評価することであり、心理測定機器を用いてメンタルヘルスの状態を連続的に測定し、6ヶ月後の人々の行動を追跡して、個人の自己効力感によって生活を回復できたか、新しい家に愛着を持てたか、総合的な満足感を得られたかを検証することを目指しています。

[波及効果］

短期間の建設プロセスを経た後には、自尊心の平均スコアが大幅に上昇し、急速な経済回復をもたらすことが予想されます。また、長期的な建設プロセスの後の自己効力感、経験から得られる長期的な満足感は、集団的なアイデンティティやソーシャル・キャピタルの基本的な必要性として認識されている「場所への愛着」に大きな影響を与えます。

Pilot Project Goals

[Expected Achievement]

We hope to test our shelter in a real simulation with disaster-affected households. With this in mind, we aim to facilitate owner-driven construction for seismic-resistant housing to partially reduce psychological damage that arises after disaster displacement. The first objective is to evaluate the experience of construction as a psychological intervention with indications of mental health change, aiming to gauge mental health states consecutively with psychometric instruments and then, follow-up people’s activities 6 months later to verify whether the perceived self-efficacy of individuals has allowed them to recover their livelihoods, whether they feel attached to their new home, and whether overall satisfaction has been gained.

[Ripple effects]

We expect a significant increase in the mean score of self-esteem after the construction process with a short-term duration initiating a fast economic recovery. Also, self-efficacy after the process with a long-term duration, overall long-term satisfaction gained from the experience rendering a substantial influence on place-attachment, also identified as a fundamental necessity for a collective identities and social capital.

現在のグループは、各メンバーの専門分野に基づいて、2020年から設立されています。週に一度、オンラインセッションを行い、プロジェクトに関連する活動をお互いにフォローしています。それぞれが担当する活動を完了まで行い、その後、活動結果を再評価します。最後にメモと報告書を作成します。これまでの活動は、Google Driveの共有フォルダに保存されています。プロジェクトの重要事項をみんなで決めたり、社内での発表内容を記録したりしています。

Information about the group

The current group has been established since the year 2020, based on each member's field of expertise. We have weekly online sessions to follow-up on each other’s activities related to the project. Each is assigned with activities until completion followed by re-assessment of activity results. We finalize each meeting with a memorandum and reports. All the activities so far have been archived in a shared Google Drive folder. We work together to decide important matters of the project and keep a record of our internal presentations.
